The Signetics 555 chip is widely used as the basis for developing pulse generators and analog timers. The microcircuit consists of a resistive voltage divider with two reference voltages for comparison, precision high and low level comparators, an RS flip-flop with an additional reset input, an open collector transistor switch and an output power amplifier that increases the microcircuit's load capacity.
