Processor companies have a variety of solutions for controlling various types of motors in their lineup, while offering various development kits. As studies of the documentation of integrated circuits (IC) for the power section of the drive have shown, the development companies, unfortunately, are limited to brief documentation for this product with the main parameters and oscillograms. In this case, it is assumed that the developer must initially understand the features of the application of this type (IS). The article will consider demo kits for the International Rectifier drive, describe their structure and the principle of operation of the main components.

Measurement of leakage inductance in transformers of pulse converters using an LRC meter

The author gives a method for determining the coupling coefficient of a two-winding transformer and the parameters of T and U-shaped equivalent circuits from the data of impedance measurements on the primary side of the transformer using a standard LRC meter. For the calculation, the measurement results are used with an open and closed secondary winding of the transformer.

Designing a power supply based on the Green FPS controller

The article describes the stages of developing a power supply unit based on the Green FPS power controller. It lists the requirements and discusses how to design an insulated Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) with high efficiency and reduced standby power to replace common AC/DC converter designs. The factors influencing the choice of magnetic components are indicated, the criteria for the selection of Green FPS components are indicated, and the RCD fixer with low consumption is developed. The selection of rectifier diodes for the low-voltage DC output circuit and feedback elements in the output voltage control loop completes the design process. Finally, there is a link to a number of available sources to help constructor AC/DC converters.

Reducing the power consumption of devices with direct power supply from the mains

Control devices powered directly from the mains (without a step-down transformer) are forced to use all possible tricks to save power dissipation in order to efficiently supply low-voltage components. The very insignificant 50 mW required for the control section to operate may require a dissipation of 2 to 3 W from the power supply. The need to remove this amount of heat leads to an increase in the cost of the product.
