Purpose:
The board is a step-down switching current regulator for powering powerful
LEDs with rated current from 150 milliamperes to 1 ampere capable of supplying
lighting LEDs with a total power of up to 20 watts. Various options are being implemented
on an identical printed circuit board by replacing a number of components. The board can work in
range of supply voltages up to 6 to 30 volts.
For example: a board with a rated load current of 1 amp can be powered from a power source
voltage of 12 volts 1 LED with a power of 10 watts, and from a source of 24 volts
2 such LEDs connected in series. Board with 300 rated load current
milliamperes can be used to power three series-connected
LEDs with a power of 1 Watt from 12 volts, or six LEDs - from a voltage of 24 volts.
Power supply of parallel-connected strings of LEDs is allowed only if there is a
each chain of equalizing resistors with resistance from 1 to 2.2 Ohm, intended for
even distribution of current along the chains and preventing premature exit from
building diodes due to exceeding the maximum permissible current.
Connection:
LED (LEDs in series) with power up to 10W (with rated voltage
10 Volt supply) are connected by the anode to the X3 (OUT +) terminal, and by the cathode to the X4 (OUT-) terminal.
DC power supply is connected to terminals X1 and X2 in accordance with the designation
polarity on the board. The new driver version added terminal X5 (DIM) to ensure
adjusting the brightness of the load LEDs.
Brightness control can be done in one of two ways. First way
analog - in this case, regulation is carried out using a variable resistor
resistance 200 kOhm, connected between terminals X2 and X5. The second way is digital,
