This lamp can also be used in insect light traps. Ultraviolet light attracts various insects well, in particular the codling moth butterflies, as well as other mass pests. Various designs of traps for catching and killing insect pests are presented in the horticultural literature. The simplest option is to hang an ultraviolet lamp in the garden, and a shallow but wide container of water is placed under it at a short distance, to which machine oil (mining) or diesel fuel is added.
Moths, attracted by ultraviolet light, circle around the lamp and get into the water, getting stuck in oil (you can use a more environmentally friendly option - sugar syrup, sweet compote, soap solution).
During the intense summer of the moth, such a simple "basin" light trap is capable of destroying up to 200 pests per night.
