A black light lamp, or Wood's light (English Black light, Wood's light), a lamp of ultraviolet light is a lamp emitting almost exclusively in the longest wavelength ("soft") part of the ultraviolet range and, unlike a quartz lamp, has a relatively weak visible glow.
A wide range of applications: checking banknotes and documents (glow of ultraviolet protective marks), diagnostics of lichen on the skin - both in humans and in animals, light exposure of photographic materials (for example, photoresist in the manufacture of printed boards) and much more.

This model has a 12V low voltage power supply. Can be connected to battery or laboratory power. for connection, the lamp is equipped with a cord with crocodile clips.
Gas discharge tube in the form of two U-shaped segments.
Threaded base is missing, instead of a plastic cap and a bracket for hanging (the image with the base is shown to indicate the overall dimensions)
Attention! observe the polarity when connecting (red wire - plus, black wire - minus).
incorrect connection (polarity reversal) will damage the lamp.

Also this lamp can be used in insect light traps. Ultraviolet light attracts various insects well, in particular the codling moth butterflies, as well as other mass pests. Various designs of traps for catching and killing insect pests are presented in the horticultural literature. The simplest option is to hang an ultraviolet lamp in the garden, under it, at a short distance, a shallow but wide container of water is added to which engine oil (mining) or diesel fuel is added.
Night butterflies, attracted by ultraviolet light, circle around the lamp and get into the water, getting stuck in oil (you can use a more environmentally friendly option - sugar syrup, sweet compote, soap solution).
During the intense summer of the moth, such a simple "basin" light trap can destroy up to 200 pests per night.
