ESD bags are designed for storing and transporting static-sensitive electronic devices. Antistatic bags are translucent in appearance and have a silvery color, made of metallized plastic film. These bags create a so-called Faraday cage around the component to be protected, which provides protection from the external field. A high level of protection against electrostatic fields is provided by a metal spray between the outer layers of antistatic polyester and a fast drainage of the charge: from 5 kV to zero - no more than 0.03 s. The film from which the bags are made has a multilayer structure. The first layer is made of antistatic PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic. The second, the so-called barrier layer, is made by sputtering aluminum. The third layer is made of PE (polyethylene) or PP (polypropylene). The film thickness for antistatic bags is 75 µm.
