Etching boards. For etching, use glass or plastic containers such as a photographic cuvette. Place the board in the solution with the pattern facing up, the entire surface of the board should be filled with the solution. The etching process is accelerated if the vessel is rocked or heated. Pickling produces toxic fumes, so work either in a well-ventilated area or outdoors. Periodically check the condition of the board by lifting it up for inspection with wooden or plastic sticks; metal tools and devices cannot be used for this purpose. After making sure that the foil in unprotected areas has disappeared completely, stop the etching process.
Transfer, for example, with a clothespin, the board under running water and rinse thoroughly, then dry it at room temperature.
If you intend to use the solution, re-drain it into a tightly sealed container and store in a cool, dark place. Please note that with repeated use, the effectiveness of the solution decreases.
