Product description format_size zoom_out zoom_in

Photoresist is a photosensitive polymer material. It is applied to the processed material in the process of photolithography or photo-engraving in order to obtain the location of windows corresponding to the photomask for the access of etching or other substances to the surface of the processed material.
In positive photoresists, the exposed areas become soluble and are destroyed after development. Such photoresists, as a rule, allow obtaining higher resolutions than negative ones, but they are more expensive.

POSITIV RESIST is a photosensitive coating chemically resistant to solutions used for etching printed circuit boards. The product allows using simple procedures to accurately copy any images to a wide range of materials. Easy to apply, dries quickly, provides good contrast and high accuracy.

Color: dark purple
Density: 0.85g/cm³
Drying time: at room temperature 10-20 hours or 10-20 minutes at room temperature, followed by drying at 70 - 80°C for 15-20 minutes
Light sensitivity: between 310 and 440 nm, maximum between 330 and 420 nm

Application
Production of individual printed circuit boards or their small series. Manufacturing of faceplates and signage, graduation, is also used for the manufacture of matrices in engraving, for etching on copper, brass and other materials.
1) Positive image
The original must be absolutely opaque, free from bends and distortions and must lie absolutely flat on the surface in order to prevent the possibility of side illumination.
2) Surface preparation
Degrease the surface before application. After the surface has been degreased, it is very important that it is completely dry, as residual moisture affects the adhesion of the light-sensitive coating to the surface.
3) Application
The procedure for applying a photosensitive coating to a cleaned and degreased board can also be performed in daylight. A dark room is not required for this, however, direct sunlight should be avoided, since the coating is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation. A dust-free environment is very important for the best quality. Place the board on a horizontal or slightly tilted surface and apply the preparation from a distance of approximately 20 cm. It is best to apply the layer continuously, in wavy lines, starting from the top left corner. In this case, the coverage will be uniform. After the surface looks like an orange peel, you can stop spraying. After a while, a homogeneous photosensitive layer will form. If too much product has been applied, the coating will take longer to form and the film will not be uniform. During spraying, the aerosol should not be tilted too far. Otherwise, when the bottle is half-empty, the drug will spray out. Before the treated board is exposed to light, it should be stored in a dark and cool place. Make sure the can is at room temperature before coating.
4) Drying
Boards must be dried in the dark before exposure if you want to achieve good image quality and adhesion of the coating to the surface. This procedure can be performed in an oven, in a temperature controlled oven, or using infrared radiation. We recommend a temperature not higher than 70-80°С. It is not necessary to immediately expose the board to heating to this temperature. Heat slowly, gradually bringing to the final temperature. Rapid drying can result in incomplete solvent removal and uneven formation of the photosensitive layer. Having previously dried the board at lower temperatures, gradually raise the heating to 70-80°C, continuing drying in this interval for another 15-20 minutes. Incomplete drying leads to the formation of defects in the coating and loss of adhesion to the board.
5)Flashing
Best results are obtained with UV lamps such as a quartz lamp (Philips HPR125) or a mercury lamp. Most often it is necessary to be exposed to a sufficient amount of intense ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 310-440 nm. Good results were obtained under illumination with a 200 W lamp for about 10 minutes from a distance of 30-40 cm. The exposure time is determined by the wavelength, not the lamp power. The most favorable spectrum of sensitivity of the photosensitive layer is in the range from 330 to 420 nm. If the coating is applied to a glass surface, a longer exposure time is required, since the glass absorbs up to 65% of the UV rays. In such a situation, extend the holding time or use clean glass or plexiglass. Use only high quality positive originals.
6) Development
The dried and lighted photosensitive layer can be developed in daylight, making sure that direct sunlight does not enter the room. Prepare the developer as a solution of 7 grams of caustic soda (NaOH) in one liter of water. The developer should have a temperature of 20-25°C. A low temperature slows down the development process, a high temperature speeds up, but reduces the sharpness of the image. After developing, rinse the board in running water. For properly exposed layers, development times are between 30 and 60 seconds using fresh developer. Never add fresh developer to used one. Always use fresh developer.
7) Etching
The POSITIV RESIST light-sensitive coating is resistant to acidic solutions of ferric chloride, ammonium persulfate, chromic acid, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids when applied to glass surfaces. Currently, in most cases, etching is performed with ammonium persulfate and hydrochloric acid. Here is a brief description of these two processes:
Based on ammonium persulfate (NH4) 2S2O8
Mixing ratio: 35 g of ammonium persulfate in 65 ml of water. Etching takes about 10 minutes, depending on the area to be etched. A warm (40°C) solution is used. When finished, rinse under running water.
Based on hydrochloric acid
Mixing proportions:
- 200 ml of hydrochloric acid (HCl 35%)
- 30 ml hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 30%)
- 770 ml of water
The mixture must be used with extreme caution. Skin contact should be avoided. In case of contact, rinse immediately with water. It is also very important to protect your eyes. The etching time strongly depends on the activity and temperature of the solution. When using a very active solution at room temperature, the process takes about 10 minutes. At the end of the board, rinse in running water.
8) Cleaning
Fragments of tracks should be removed from the layer remaining after etching. This can be done with organic solvents such as acetone.
9)Temperature and storage conditions
POSITIV RESIST aerosol can be stored for up to 5 years at room temperature. varnish in a bottle (not an aerosol package) after opening the package is recommended to be stored for up to one year at a temperature of 8 to 12°C. Bring to room temperature before use. With long-term storage of the photosensitive varnish, it may be necessary to slightly increase the exposure time, this adjustment is selected experimentally.
